Mutual Vision: Why It’s Important For Your Organization To Merge Its Vision With The Visions Of Its Employees

First published in 2001

1. When all the horses are running in the same direction, success occurs.

When an individual and an organization both believe in the same things, the focus becomes the good of the whole rather than the good of the one.

2. Buy-in comes from perceived benefit.

When individual and company vision are mutual, it is synergistic. Instead of competition, there is cooperation. We are all in it together.

3. Life balance is an important element of a mutual vision.

When life balance is valued by an organization, it sends the message that the business cares about the health of its employees. The business shows it is interested in vital employees, not just warm bodies; and every person feels wholly valued.

4. If an employee feels valued, productivity increases.

Feeling valued leads an employee to higher satisfaction and thereby higher productivity.
