Creativity and Innovation

Creative thinking is future thinking. To think creatively is to move imaginatively into the future. To create, to innovate, is to bring the future concretely into the present. Futurists use specific skills and methodologies when thinking of the future. The same is true with creative thinkers. To learn creative thinking skills is to leverage your ability to create a preferred future.

We offer programs that build upon the natural connection between future thinking and creative thinking. The programs teach cognitive tools and methods for responding to the concerns (and opportunities!)brought to bear by technology, communications, economics, sustainability, and other issues of our times.

Programs are presented by Futurist.com associate Amy Frazier, and are available as keynotes, half-day or full-day workshops. Contact us to book a program on Creative Thinking.

Creative Problem Solving – Introduction to the Thinking Skills Model
Creative Problem Solving (CPS) is a proven process for enhancing creative thinking. CPS teaches tools that build upon our natural patterns of generating ideas and focusing on solutions, increasing our chances for success. If you have ever wondered why a dynamic brainstorming session didn’t yield dynamic results, or have spent hours solving a challenge only to realize it was the wrong problem to tackle, then you’ll understand the value of CPS. This program can be applied to specific possibilities and challenges you and your organization currently face––or presented as an integrated training on the Thinking Skills Model.

Creativity and Innovation in the 21st Century
While the need to innovate stays constant, the conditions for creativity and innovation are in constant flux. This program explores factors that put a uniquely 21st Century mark on creativity and innovation, exploring the question: what is creativity and innovation today? You will learn about the skills, knowledge, attitude and tools to successfully innovate in today’s environment; how to explore the idea space for the innovations you wish to create; and how to balance competing pressures as you bring these ideas into fruition.

Activating Your Vision of the Future
A compelling vision of the future is essential to motivate positive change. But what actions and attitudes will be necessary to bring the vision into the real world, and what do they feel like? This experiential workshop taps into the world of the arts to give participants a felt sense of the condition or goal toward which they aim. Using storyboarding, scripting and improvisation, we arrive at a deeper and more fully integrated understanding of where we are, and where we want to end up. An excellent choice for retreats/visioning sessions, and project launches.
